Beanitos is the first corn-free, potato-free chip that we’ve tasted yet. We weren’t sure what to expect out of the two flavors at hand, Black Bean Chips and Pinto Bean and Flax Chips, but they were really good.
The Beanitos are light in texture, like a thin potato chip, and have a light grainy yet sweet taste. They are salted just right and are delicious with all the dips we tried, but I enjoyed them all by themselves. The next flavor to be released will be Black Bean Chipotle BBQ. Sounds perfect.
Each serving of 10 chips has only 140 calories and a whopping five grams of fiber. When comparing this to the standard chips we all indulge in, this is by far a better “grab-on-the-go,” “sit-in-front-of-the-TV,” or even “stand-at-the-counter” chip.
We served these chips at a party to adults and kids with a variety of dips and salsas ,and we were asked constantly, “What are these?” Everyone loved them.
Many people like us may be wondering about the after-effects of the beans—gas. We were told that the beans go through a natural, proprietary method, eliminating the side effect of gas. So don’t worry, folks!
The main ingredient of the chips is whole beans, either black or pinto, combined with whole grain brown rice and or brown flaxseed. They are baked, flash-fried, and lightly dusted with sea salt.
CEO Doug Foreman is not new to the food scene by any means, and his latest venture, Beanitos, is proving to be a delicious and nutritious snack—not to mention gluten-free.
Beanitos only hit its first tradeshow in Nature’s Products Expo 2010 in California. Phil Lempert, the Supermarket Guru® himself, reviewed these chips and has already predicated the chips a hit as the perfect chip. We agree! They are different, tasty, and you really should try them. Go to Amazon, Whole Foods, many grocery, drug, and health food stores to get yourself a bag.
