Cook-in-the-Kitchen

Cook-in-the-Kitchen has 4 gluten-free soups which we tested and really enjoyed. We did add a few touches, more in the area of protein and an occasional chopped fresh vegetable, but it was not a necessity to add anything to their full flavor soups. We used their Welsh Potato soup as a base for our Clam Chowder—yum!

I can say my testers and I appreciated the ease and speed of getting a full-meal result. Just add hot water and in ten minutes, the hearty soup is ready.

Cook-in-the-Kitchen sent me 4 gluten-free items, Meals in Minutes gluten-free soups. But we’re hoping they develop more gluten-free products soon. The other items are not conducive to a gluten-free diet, but with a bit of creativity, I know they can adapt and offer more.

This family-owned and operated business in White River Junction, Vermont makes everything in small batches, as they have been for the past 20 years. They maintain a list of preservative-free ingredients. On their website you can rate and review their products. Tom Godwin, owner, appreciates and welcomes feedback, always looking for helpful recommendations.

At www.glutenfreehelp.info, we recommend “more gluten-free” to Tom!

The Dill and Tomato Soup was delicious! I liked the flavors – so tomato-y! It’s a Good meal every time. Also, the potato welsh Taste great! Makes a delicious side dish every time.

  8. Trista says:

The potato welsh is good, thick, and hearty. The lentil soup is just what I expected from lentil soup…very good taste.

  9. Ricardo L says:

The lentil soup has nice texture. Lentil taste is prominent as well as the black pepper and veggies.
The Dill and Tomato Soup is so thick and sweet! I wouldn’t expect this to be gluten free.

For the Welsh potato soup, I added three minced garlic cloves, browned in olive oil. I then added cut up chicken breast. A tablespoon of butter and 3 cups of water and 1 cup of milk. This all resulted in a much thicker consistency soup, instead of a more liquid one.
In the Mediterranean Lentil soup, I like to add browned garlic and brown rice noodles. It’s delicious and very filling!
Lastly, I like to take the Harvest Garden Veggie Soup and add chicken breast, and 5 cups of water to the mix for a thicker consistency.
