Flour-less chocolate cake

I got this recipe from a dear friend of mine. What a delicious gift this makes! Spread gluten-free chocolate frosting on the top to make it extra chocolaty.

INGREDIENTS

4 oz. bittersweet chocolate, chopped

1 stick (1/2 c) unsalted butter

¾ c sugar

3 large eggs

½ c unsweetened cocoa powder

DIRECTIONS

1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Grease and line an eight-inch pan.

2. Melt chocolate with the butter in a saucepan, stirring until smooth. Remove from the heat and whisk in the sugar. Add the eggs and whisk well.

3. Sift cocoa powder over the chocolate mixture and whisk until just combined.

4. Bake in the middle of the oven for 20 minutes or until a thin crust has formed.

5. Cool for 5 minutes in pan.

Refrigerate between servings. When you’re ready to eat it, warm each piece in the microwave for fifteen seconds. Serve with whipped cream and berries.

  1. OK I made this tonight and it was really outstanding. I followed all the directions exactly, except I used salted instead of unsalted butter, so if you follow this to a tee yours should come out great too!

  2. I can’t believe making a chocolate cake can be so easy and doesn’t even require flour! Mine came out terrifically! Thanks so much for this recipe!

  3. I have heard a lot of recommendations of flourless cakes and I’ve tried some myself, but I’ve never actually made one on my own. I think it’s finally time I give one a try though and this recipe looks right up my alley!

  4. Oh boy this one looks PARTICULARLY delicious I have to say when I scan through your blog…I might just have to indulge!

  5. Oh this is a good idea. I don’t really like fiddling around with flours all the time…I look forward to just bypassing the flour in this recipe!
