You can have this for breakfast or even as a side dish. Quinoa is GF and high in protein.
INGREDIENTS
(makes 2 cups)
2 cups milk (or soy, rice, or almond milk)
1 cup quinoa
1 tbsp agave
1/8 tsp cinnamon
1 c fresh berries (blueberries or nuts)
DIRECTIONS
1. Bring milk to boil.
2. Add quinoa.
3. Return to boil and then simmer about 10 mins. Milk will not be fully absorbed.
4. Stir in agave and cinnamon and simmer approximately 8 more mins. Remove from heat.
5. Stir in blueberries or nuts, and serve with honey, salt, or butter.

Hi Tina this is a really good recipe. I tried it this morning and it came out great! I used vanilla soy milk and yum yum yum. I have become increasingly interested in quinoa over the past couple years but recently I noticed it was for sale at Costco, and you get this huge bag of it and it’s even organic and only like $10 so I have been eating it now because it’s waaaay cheaper than my usual breakfast cereals I get from the health food stores and even Costco. So, guys, if you’re Costco members check this out!
I added almond slivers and sliced strawberries and bananas and maple syrup instead of agave and it came out really good! My three year old who is very picky about her food (she doesn’t like to try new food hardly ever) tried it even and said it was good. So there you go! Kids really do love quinoa and it’s really cute when they say the word, too!
I have seen this around so much and every one keeps talking about it, but I believe I tried this once and wasn’t entirely impressed with it (I don’t remember when I tried it though). Well, your comments seem pretty favorable so I think right now I’m going to pick some up from Whole Foods and give it a try again.
I like mine plain, plain, plain. Quinoa is so good that you can get away with it. Even my young children like it that way, but then again, they’ve never tried it with anything in it. But we have it this way for breakfast (plain) every now and then.
I’ve been interested in trying quinoa for a while. My girlfriend says her kids love it. I’ll give this recipe a try! I always get a little nervous trying to make something for the first time, but here goes nothing!
Been meaning to get back into quinoa, which I ate a lot of back in college before anyone had even heard of it. I remember that it kept my blood sugar levels really stable for HOURS. There are so many different things you can do with it too. I highly recommend people give this a try.
