Purely Decadent ® Coconut Milk Ice Cream

Turtle Mountain, LLC is my new favorite company on planet Earth. Well, just about. As a celiac, I don’t eat dairy, as most of us celiacs don’t, but that means no ice cream, which I really love. I love the texture, the cold, smooth flavor, especially the mint-flavored ones.

This brings me back to Turtle Mountain. With 40 million Americans lactose-intolerant and many others eliminating it due to religious, health, or philosophical reasons, they came up with an ideal solution—coconut ice cream. I have to tell you, this coconut ice cream is good! I’ve tasted the chocolate, Vanilla, and Mint. The name is Purely Decadent ®, made with coconut milk.

I’ve had plenty of coconut ice creams to the point of no interest in ever trying it again. My husband, the chocolate lover that he is, and the caring heart he has for me, walked in the door with two pints—chocolate for him and the mint for me. Sigh…I’ll give it a try. Wowee! No coconut flavor in either one. The mint is a smooth, cool vanilla mint ice-cream with thin-shaved pieces of mint chocolate.

Thanks for Turtle Mountain for making a healthy and delicious agave-sweetened alternative to ice cream.

I give this product two thumbs up!

  1. This is absolutely 100% my favorite ice cream of all time!!! I love the mint chocolate chip–to die for! No other dairy substitute compares, and I actually prefer it over regular ice cream. I beg you all to do the biggest favor you could do for yourself–try this ice cream! You won’t regret it!!!

  2. I am SO glad you featured this! I tried a coconut ice cream once before and it was so unbelievably good that I was obsessed with it and I couldn’t remember the name! (I sampled it somewhere and unfortunately didn’t write down the brand name of the ice cream.)

  3. Sounds super delicious! I think coconut is the ultimate food. I love coconut milk, oil, and water. That stuff tastes soooo good and it’s really good for you, of course I don’t know if coconut ice cream is necessarily GOOD for you though LOL but if you can’t eat dairy it’s not a bad alternative!

  4. Hi Tina thanks for this recommendation. I often go past the coconut milk ice cream in the ice cream aisle but I have not been adventurous enough to try it yet, but I’ve definitely been curious. I’ll let you guys know what I think. I’m sooo excited!

  5. I think the interesting thing about this brand of ice cream is that you would expect that it would taste coconutty, but it doesn’t. It just tastes creamy and delicious! You can sense that it’s made with coconut milk but you would never call the flavor “coconut.” So if you’re not a huge fan of coconut, I suggest you still try this out because you might like it. I even like it better than other ice creams, even kinds made from milk! You just can’t beat the creamy consistency, plus it also tastes like it’s GOOD for you, or at least wholesome.

  6. This is a great ice cream. I tried it for the first time last month and I would definitely buy it again. I just try to stay away from sweets and just have them every once in a while. Otherwise, I would have bought this ice cream again sooner.

  7. Haha that’s funny that there was a comment from a “D.M.” which are my initials, but that wasn’t me! Okay, just wanted to wholeheartedly agree with Tina here that this brand is the ABSOLUTE BEST! I tell my friends about it all the time and when they finally pick it up they are so glad that they did! And you’re totally right–there’s no coconutty flavor like you would think there would be.

  8. Hi Tina thanks for this recommendation. It sounds great and I’m also inspired to try making homemade ice cream using coconut milk since it sounds like it can come out so successfully.
